Copper & Cask MK439
Copper and Cask is an independent bottler dedicated to single barrel selections and unique cask strength releases.
Today I'll be reviewing a 6-year-old straight bourbon whisky distilled in Lawrenceburg Indiana, single barrel selection - Latitude 42, barrel number - MK 439, non-chill filtered and bottled at 60.3% abv. The mash bill consisted of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4 % barley malt.
Colour: Auburn/Mahogany
Nose: Buttery corn with underlying rye spice and notes of oak, vanilla and a hint of caramel.
Palate: Delicious layers of flavors, with a pleasant viscous warming sensation. The first taste was spicy and oaky with flavors of caramel, vanilla and a hint of toffee.
Finish: Long and slightly spicy (light rye spice) with a warmth that lingers in the throat.
Overall, the bourbon had a balanced flavor profile, with sweetness, spice, and oak all working together to create a complex and enjoyable drinking experience.
